The Window
by Sophi
You have become the captor of my thoughts
As you have been reduced to their small rooms
With windows cracked open a slivered inch
Just wide enough to slip your fingers through
Where reaching from my own, they sputter words
That shrivel short of shape still quiet, stale
Your name stays tight inside under my tongue
With dreamed of kisses soft and shy of light
This shell of skin upon my chalky bones
Cannot contain your swelling presence here
Elastic arms pulled tight to snapping bends
Where edges fade and feather into air
I slide through halls and open darkened doors
To sink inside the silence where you hide
