Exactly. A lot of the original 'Bots staff and forum contributors were IRL friends and associates, too, so I imagine that, aside from continental drift and burned bridges, the slow-but-steady integration of F'book (and Twitter, and even Instagram) into their day-to-day gave them another outlet by which to touch base with one another, and to share erstwhile forum-friendly blurbs with a wider audience of non-'Bots folk, minus the obnoxious trolls and SPAM-slingers. Can't say as I blame 'em for that...
As for the fate of the site in general, there was a brief Clubhouse convo circa summer of last year, wherein Jux had talked about setting up another (initially invite-only) forum and likewise archiving the 'zine, though the (admittedly minimal) response from the staff was to keep on trucking as-is.
That, and the long-considered prospect of a total site overhaul—a thankless labour of love for Jux if ever there was one—would maybe daunting to the point of not being worth the effort. Can't say I blame Jux for shying away from that Herculean task; I recently archived all my 'Bots ish to a WordPress
blog, and DAMN but that took a long-ass time.
A-and, here we are. Maybe we could resuscitate the forums via (or, as as an offshoot of) the Beatbots
Fan Page? Raise the flag, see who responds, etc.?
