My mom refused to give me the same name as one of her former friends newborn son, Christopher (my parents first choice for me). Instead its Patrick (or Pat).  I was born and raised in Hamilton, northeast Baltimore City, and went to private Lutheran Schools from K-12. My father works in the Baltimore City School System and refused to send my sister or I there. I graduated from High School in 2000. I was in a class of 78 but only 76 graduated since they kicked out 2 students one known to be a lesbian and the other who got pregnant. I attended UMBC as a Chemical Engineering major but switched to Political Science after a year and a half of hating physics and calculus. While at UMBC I worked full-time for 3 of those years at Best Buy. This is how I, met Denny Bowen of Double Dagger, got into more local music, and then started working for Geek Squad. After Geek Squad I work in a few contract IT positions before starting at Polk Audio where I've been for almost 2 years now in a Network Admin/Tech Support position.

My user name, dumpkopf, is the fist word I learned in German class in high school, and it means dumb head.

I found Beatbots on the Internet by accident. Oddly enough I had Raven write me a rather nice note when I mail ordered stuff from Morphius, before I had ever met her through Beatbots.

Currently I should be studying for my LSAT which I take Feb 2nd.

I'm on the internets a lot...

I'm nostalgic for conversations I had yesterday. I've begun reminiscing events before they even occur. I'm reminiscing this right now. I can't go to the bar because I've already looked back on it in my memory... and I didn't have a good time.

ah! I forgot my beatbots story...back in June 2007, I must've googled something or click a link from myspace or something because all of a sudden I found this awesome website where I could talk to people about local stuff! before then, I could never discuss local shows, bands, venues, food, movies, events, etc. and until I found beatbots, I didn't realize how much I was missing. I've been posting ever since!! I met justin and raven at whartscape and we traded pins.

My name is Tim. I am 31 years old. I go back to the days of Candy Machine and Universal Order of Armageddon, but you can catch me at Wham City joints. You probably totally know who I am, right?

I work part time at the Charles theater. I also do freelance journalism from time to time. I am a high school English teacher, mostly.

Recent changes in the Baltimore city film landscape have inspired me to start a blog, an original and innovative move. The URL is http://charmcitycineaste.blogspot.com

My music is at http://www.myspace.com/anchorwatt

I am also very good friends with this guy: http://www.myspace.com/quilliam_fenniworth

As my screen name suggests, my name is Steve (Stephen).  I'll be 31 on 18th February.  I'm currently divorced and single.  I'm honestly attempting to follow a vegan diet, though cheese is on everything and honey is delicious.  Like clockwork, I give blood every 56 days.  A couple of my chief hobbies are city biking and making my own video games.  I'm not religious; I consider myself a philisophical Taoist.  2008 really hasn't gone well for me, though there clearly have been some unforgettable moments already.

I have a Bachelors in Theatre, focus on Acting, earned in Spring '00 from Towson University; it took me five years to acquire it, as I fucked around a lot during my first year and I studied abroad for a semester in the Autumn of '99, earning little essential credit towards my degree while there.  Speaking of which, it was at a small arts conservatory in south England called the Dartingon School of the Arts, and to this day my semester there is regarded as one of the most enlightening periods of my life.

For good or ill, I tend to clearly separate and stratify the different aspects of my life.  My day job is with Maryland New Directions, a non-profit career counseling service that helps people (mostly displaced homemakers and previously-incarcerated people) find jobs and keep 'em.  My night job is volunteering as Managing Director for the Hamilton Arts Collective, which is currently closed for renovation.  I'm also the lead "vocalist" for The Dirty Marmaduke Flute Squad.

I'm a registered Anarchist (if that makes any sense at all), and I'm somewhat obsessed with privacy and civil liberties.  I do not vote in political elections, and prefer individual and collectivist agreements instead of rules and laws.  I try to learn or do something every day that combats "The System," but I'm not making much progress in direct action.

I'm holding back on a lot of personal details voluntarily, which is a shame, because I really dig sharing.  I just don't like putting them up for grabs on the Internet.  Conversations in person are much better for that, in my opinion.

The indie filmmakers of Better Hollywood Productions had introduced me to Beatbots a while back.  After a short false start, where I mouthed off constantly and broke every unspoken rule of conduct for newbies that has ever existed, I dropped out and deleted my account.  Then, this past summer I finally met Justin in person, and decided to rejoin the community.

I focus on 2D arcade-style games for PC, like you would see on the NES and SNES.  I use a program called "Multimedia Fusion" to do all the coding for me.

I've finished a total of 5 projects in the past year and a half.  My most recent finished work is "DMFS Escape," which I released late November of '07.  Once my website is up and running again (I just sent payment so it may be working as I type this), you can download it from here:

http://www.create-games.com/download.asp?id=6922

My other finished projects are listed in the "Other Creations" section along the right-hand side of the screen.  These include:
Spirit Seekers: a dodge-and-collect game; my first ever game project, completed in roughly 12 hours, if I remember correctly.
Space Sewers: move your janitor around the maze, and blast the Space Scum with your super scrubber.  Nikc loves this game, but still hasn't beaten it.
Instructor Study Guide: a study tool for fellow Red Cross instructors (I'm certified to teach CPR, First Aid, and a couple other things through the ARC).  My first implementation of multiple-choice tests, along with some other arcade-style learning tools.  About 85% complete in its current state, and pretty much abandoned.
Squiggy's Safety Catch: created for the ARC Youth program; move Squiggy The Squirrel back and forth across the screen and collect the useful things for your Disaster Supply Kit, and avoid the not-so-useful things.  This one is totally under-rated; it's a lot of fun as an occasional time-killer.

I'm currently stewing two projects.  One is a top-down shooter where you pilot a "hover-tank" and blast the approaching enemies as you escort large transport vehicles from one side of the map to the other.  The second is an action platformer (like the Mario games) where you play a garden gnome who has gone on a quest to recover his fellow gnomes' stolen gardening tools.  I have no idea when either of those two will be done; I have too many other things to do...But they'll be finished eventually.

To check out Multimedia Fusion, visit the developer's website:

PIKESVILLE GYNECOLOGIST

wow, they have programs that write games these days, eh?

i got DMFS Escape to run on wine in linux. everything seemed to work except for full screen mode.

i got around 12000 on my first run. nice galaga clone Wink

arcade games are not my cup of tea though, i like puzzle / adventure. definitely prefer the small games with emphasis on gameplay instead of graphics, though.

My name is Tom, and I am currently in my twenty-fourth year of post-womb existence. Born and raised in the westernmost part of New Jersey, I've been indoctrinated in Catholicism through all formal education from pre-k through to college (presuming that you would consider Jesuits to be Catholic). Fortunately, skepticism crept in at some point during my freshman year of high school, and it has been a long time since I've been able to identify with the tenets of Roman Catholicism. As such, I prefer to think of myself as an agnostic with Buddhist tendencies: there are things that I was taught, there are things that I believe, and there are things that I just don't know.

On the educational end of things, I spent four worthwhile years of my young adult life at Loyola College in Baltimore, Maryland, where I intended to pursue a career as a journalist. After a few bends in the departmental road, I graduated in 2006 with a B.A. in English and Creative Writing—straight journalism did little for me, and the closest I had ever come to it was a gig writing long-winded album and show reviews for our student publication, The Greyhound. For reasons unknown, the fine folk in the LC Writing Department thought it prudent to award me an academic medal at our commencement ceremony, and I live with the growing fear that I may never do anything to justify my receiving it.

At the present, I live in Western NJ and work in the creative services department of a small newspaper based in Eastern Pennsylvania. For fun, I read, listen to music, play bass guitar and video games, sketch, and write (albeit infrequently).

I first came across Beatbots in 2005 after receiving a message about the site via MySpace. In summer 2006, I applied to join as a staffer. So it goes. Smiley

My digital footprint is relatively tiny:

I can attest to the veracity...Steve came out to the Metro Gallery show I put on earlier this month but had to leave early because he was giving blood the following morning at 7am.

I'd give blood, but I made the mistake of being honest a few years ago and the Red Cross has since denied my subsequent attempts to donate. Jeez! Stick a needle in your arm for pleasure and all of a suddent you're a leper.

My name is Bryan, I was born in '79 here in Baltimore.  Moved to Winchester, VA at about 3 years old, when my parents couldn't take the big city anymore, something about having our house robbed three times in one year (the joys of Baltimore in the 70s).  Anyway, so essentially raised in Winchester (this is out in the Shenandoah Valley), and then attended the Univeristy of Virginia getting a degree in Religious Studies and Bioethics in 2001.  Found neither of these majors could get me a job so moved back in with the parents for a year.  Eventually got a job doing social science research near DC (so moved to Chevy Chase then Silver Spring).  Summer of 2005 my then girlfriend (now wife) gets into UMD medical school and we move to Baltimore (pigtown to be specific).

Currently work in Rockville for RTI and commute in 2 days a week (work from home the other 3 days) and atted UMD, College Park working on a degree in Library Science...

Musically I'm in the band The Cutest Puppy in the World, we've played a bunch around DC (this is where we started and where my bandmate still lives) and few times in B'more (at the bank).  I also do some solo sample based stuff as Gullwing...

Anyway, been reading Beatbots for a while, but just registered.
