Though I wish the vocals were up a bit, this was another excellent set from one of my favorites out of MT6. Notable in that it is the first show with Melvis Fargus on guitar.

The videos might be worth taking a pass on.

This set is a bit more laid back and mellow than the show from November, but still an excellent jam with MT6 stalwarts.

There is a musical equivalent of fingernails across the chalkboard. In the last track, Island Seclusion Heat, MC Kreace uses a violin/bass bow across an electric guitar. I’ve actually seen the bow-on-the-guitar thing many times from other acts and it’s always been a pleasant experience. Perhaps it’s the unpredictability that just goes with a Blakk Sweat show.

I wanted to upload this show to The Live Music Archive, but either the Archive is experiencing problems (not unheard, especially lately) or this show is banned (I doubt it), because I just can’t get the recording uploaded.

In the meantime, you can grab the show below. Since JMP do not want any mp3’s at The Archive, I’m not going to provide them here. Sorry, flac only.

Delicious plays hard instrumental rock from North Carolina.

The first time I saw these guys was April 30, 2005 at The Funkbox in Baltimore, opening for Big in Japan (along with Val Yum). That entire show has a mental note of being one of the best shows I ever saw. The set that Delicious delivered for this show was almost as monsterous as that first time. I’ve been hoping and wishing for the last couple of years for Delicious to come back to Baltimore, but, so far, they’ve yet to return. I’ll definitely be there when they do come back.

Soihadto, from Baltimore, plays instrumental progressive rock. This was my first time seeing them and I was blown away. The only regret I have from this show is that a prior commitment forced me to leave early and I was unable to tape Big In Japan. I did stick around long enough for the second band, North Carolina’s Delicious (look for that recording to soon follow).

I’m sure the band is tired of always hearing this reference being made, but the bassist of Soihadto is Duff from Ace of Cakes.
